Our carpet project for Masjid-e-Vali in Blackburn, United Kingdom, began with a sampling process. During the ordering stage, we produced six carpet samples to help establish the colour direction and allow the carpet’s texture to be assessed.
Following the evaluation of these samples, beige tones were approved. This decision established the project’s colour palette and provided the basis for production.
From Sampling to Production
Viewing a carpet colour on a screen is different from assessing it in a woven sample. A physical sample allows the colour to be seen alongside the yarn and weave, while offering the opportunity to feel the carpet’s surface directly.
The six samples we prepared for Masjid-e-Vali played an important role in this process. Once the beige tones had been selected, we carried the approved choice through to the carpets produced for the mosque.
80% New Zealand Wool, 20% Polyamide
We wove the carpets using a blend of 80% New Zealand wool and 20% polyamide. When selecting the material, we considered both the natural texture of wool and the everyday requirements of the prayer spaces.
We prepared this blend as three-ply yarn, bringing the chosen beige tones together with the carpet’s texture. Colour, material and weaving specifications were considered as complementary elements throughout the project.
729,600 Points per Square Metre
One of the defining technical features of the Masjid-e-Vali carpets is their weaving density of 729,600 points/m². This means that each square metre contains 729,600 weaving points.
We considered this high weaving density alongside the selected wool blend and final surface treatments. The appearance and texture established during sampling remained central to the bespoke production process.
Manufactured in Demirci, Installed in Blackburn
We manufactured the carpets at our fully integrated facilities in Demirci, Manisa, Türkiye. Every stage, from yarn production and dyeing to weaving, shearing and finishing, was carried out in-house.
After production, we completed the on-site fitting, bringing the process that began with samples to its conclusion at Masjid-e-Vali. The calm character of the beige tones became part of the mosque’s prayer spaces.
