We used 100% Anatolian wool for the carpets manufactured for Valide Atik Mosque, combining wool’s natural texture with an approach designed to complement the mosque’s atmosphere.
For this project, Kalida carried out every manufacturing stage at its fully integrated facilities in Demirci, Manisa, from yarn production, dyeing and weaving to shearing and finishing.
100% Anatolian Wool and 3-Ply Yarn
Carefully selected Anatolian wool formed the basis of the Valide Atik Mosque carpets. Using 3-ply yarn, made by twisting three separate strands together, we combined wool’s natural properties with our weaving expertise.
In prayer spaces, a carpet’s texture and feel are as important as its appearance. We therefore considered materials, weave construction and surface treatments together.
Harmony in Pattern, Colour and Texture
Covering a large surface, a mosque carpet has a significant influence on the overall appearance of the space. For Valide Atik Mosque, we considered pattern, colour and texture as a whole to create a carpet that complements its atmosphere.
From dyeing to weaving, we took care to reproduce colours and patterns faithfully across the carpet surface.
From Yarn to Carpet in Demirci
After producing and dyeing the yarn, we wove the carpets at our own facilities. Shearing and finishing then gave the surface its final appearance and texture.
Carrying out every stage under one roof allowed us to monitor the specified quality from yarn to finished carpet.
